Haakarm - "Inleiding"
Great Manoeuvring!
Basis There are many ways to build a containercarrier/ hookarm. Beco applies a system of VDL with integrated chassis from special high strength steel. That saves weight and construction height with conservation of the strength. VDL container systems is a part of the VDL group. Since year and day VDL is a renowned supplier for the automotive- and particularly the truck industry. The organisation of VDL container systems exists out of experienced specialists from the containersystem branche. The hookarm systems of VDL are deliverable in capacity of 3 to 40 tons. Beco uses especially the 35 tons system that is brought back to respectively 25 or 30 tons capacity. Hydraulic Springs Also the hydraulic springs of the carrier is to be called revolutionary. This is namely provided with the so-called 2-pressure principe:when charged or empty, you always have a perfect spring comfort. The hydraulic cylinders are on each side connected to eachother. Because of this the wheels always carry the same weight and can independently of each be moved up or down. Role stability is guaranteed and inclining in turns is minimum. The chassis height is adjustable with the hydraulic springs which results in an advantage by moving and picking up containers. Naturally the hydraulic springs can be equipped with an axle-lift on one or more axles. An option is to supply the carrier with a levellinginstrument. By lifting one side of the vehicle it will be entirely levelled, what can be very useful by using the carrier in rough terrain. The springblades are extra long to be able to manage the 'torsion', which the life of the rubber buses extends. The spring cylinders have been placed directly on the axle and directly under the chassis. That prevents torsion in the chassis beams, which is positive for the turn-points of the hookarm system. The assembly of the cylinders has been carried out in a technically high-quality. The cylinders are supplied with the maintenance-free 'hammerhead bearing' which guarantees a long-term functioning. Naturally the cylinders have been carried out with a wide measured system, so that roughnesses are well compensated. The system processes roughnesses up to approximately 250 mm. Axles Standard the 3-axle hookarmcarriers are equipped with R.O.R.- fast-traffic axles. If there is chosen for hydraulic forced control there is then used "follow" axle which provides the possibility to set the controls neutral so that the oil in the wheelsystem can flow free and the wheels set them selfs in line. Moreover the wheelsystem of BECO has the possibility to steer the wheels from the cabin, what of course is very useful when picking up a container which has been put aside in a difficult position. When the middle axle is pulled up (only possible with hydraulic springs) it is even possible for the 3-axle carrier to drive in the so called "dog style". To simplify the attaching of the steeringcontrol the steersystem offers the possibility of serving the commando-grips as from the service cupboard. The as an option attached toppressure cylinder gives the possibility of transferring extra weight of the carrier to the tractor where the presurre can be regulated independently of the load by the tractor hydraulics. This has the advantage that independently of the circumstances (loading, situation of the terrain, presence or absence of front axle spring on the tractor) an optimum of driving skill is realised. Moreover the "toppressure"cylinder can be blocked so that the tractor does not come of the ground at taking the container.
